Next Transfer is October 14th...

So this week has been a pretty average week. Not much as been going on, but there are some good things happening in both of the wards. We are seeing more and more of the members trying to do missionary work, which is nice, but we are trying to get some people to teach here, because tracking is just not doing it. The members are the most important thing to missionary work. President Monson has said that there is no substitute for member missionary work. It will bring more people unto Christ and keep them as strong members of the church. We got a new ward mission leader this week in the Anthem ward, his name is xxxx (Name omitted on purpose) and he used to live in St. George and his totally fired up about doing missionary work which is good. I hope that the ward catches the "missionary fever" as well.

So I didn't take any pictures this week, but I will do better next week. I tried to take a picture of a Havalina, but it was night time and my camera doesn't do outdoors too well. I was like 4 feet away from one!! They are kind of like large pigs that look like rats. They are super mean and they are starting to out a bit more now that it is cooling down to about the 70's at night. So about the weather, well it is not as hot as it was in August but it is still pretty hot compared to Utah. I think that it was about 105 degrees for the high last week here and that didn't seen too bad. (not 118 bad...haha).

So I can't believe that I have been out in the field for two months now!! (Three months total.) It is amazing how fast September went by!! It will be October this week and that is super crazy!! They do Trunk 'r' Treats here and we are planning on stopping by there because it is going to be in the new chapel that they are opening up here in Anthem!! That is going to bring in a lot of new people that are interested in seeing what is inside of a Mormon Chapel!! I think that there are a lot of people here who think that the Chapel is the Temple and they all say when we invite them to the open house that is Nov. 5 that they didn't know that they could go inside and that they had to be a member to go inside! Their are a lot of misconceptions about what we believe and how we live our faith and stuff like that.

So that brings me to my next point. They are starting a media campaign here in the Metro Phoenix are called "I'm a Mormon". The Church is doing these ads on TV, billboards, and all over town. They are pretty cool ads that show that we are normal people. I don't know if you have seen it in the news, but you should go to mormon.org and check it out there are some cool things on there about us and is a good thing that you could use to introduce people to the church. You should also make a profile on there and share your testimony. It is a real neat resource that we are using here and it is going to be big!!

So I think that you said that you got the letter from President Taylor about the mail. (We have to send his mail to him directly due to changes in the postal system.) So I will be done training this next transfer so there is that possibility that I will be transferred somewhere else. So I get noticed of the transfer the Tuesday before, which will be our P-day. I will let you know in a email if I am or not. I am hoping not, because things are just starting to get rolling a bit here in the wards.

So anyways that is about all that I have to say this week!

Hope all is well back at the ranch!!

Love

Elder Johnson
